Abstract: The article defends the thesis of the primary role and necessity of sustainable development of town planning in Bulgaria. The focus is on the challenges and prospects for populated settlements in Bulgaria, in the context of sustainable development. Special attention is paid to goal 11 of the "Sustainable Development Goals 2030". Good practices stimulating sustainable growth in settlements, as well as the development of green construction, were examined. Based on the analytical review of the information, conclusions and recommendations for the sustainable development of settlements in Bulgaria are outlined.
