Abstract: There is a noticeable difference in the economic literature regarding the definitions used for corporate real estate management and what constitutes this type of management. In the Bulgarian literature the most commonly used concepts are (in translation) “management of property” and “management of real estate”. Other commonly used terms are “property management”, “facility management” and “asset management”. In the English literature, however, there are additional terms used: “corporate property management”, “property asset management”, “corporate real estate management”, “corporate real estate asset management”. There is some confusion regarding the contemporary identity and functions of all of them. The differences and similarities among these management activities are blurred and unclear. This article tries to distinguish each of these activities.
